Burnout is not
self-healing.
But you are.Â
Â
I'm on a mission to end burnout culture for women in law.Â
Â
Thoughts about our work and ourselves trigger a cascade of emotions that are not your “fault.”
The seeds of those beliefs were planted in all of us long ago—and rooted in patriarchy, capitalism, racism. When we internalize them (which we have) and mistake them for our own ideas (which we do), we get crushed under the weight of them.  Â
You can lose yourself in the process — and it doesn’t happen overnight.Â
And ironically, we think the only way to get back who we think we are is to push harder, which results in more burnout, and diminishing returns on your energy and income.Â
The very striving that got us here can’t take us where we want to go.Â
It feels counterintuitive, but it’s 100% true. But since we’ve only ever been taught, and rewarded, for pushing the gas pedal harder, that’s what we do, thinking we can accelerate ourselves out of it. The problem is, you’re headed for a wall.
Changing the thoughts is critical—at an individual and systemic level.
Because if we cannot shift our thinking, nothing will change.
Burnout is not an all-or-nothing proposition.Â
You can heal burnout and reverse its effects. Not by “fixing” the legal industry (not yet anyway), but by doing the internal work to adjust the way you think about and perform your work—which is currently keeping you from thriving.
Success has always been a non-negotiable for you.
Â
The problem is you’ve been taught that there’s just one way to achieve it.
